It seems almost impossible that dad could have stayed with us these last three days he’s been on a syringe driver. He has not had any fluid or food, but is looked after really well by the nursing home staff. They check in on us every 30 minutes, give him his mouth care and still change him into his pyjamas at night, and do his personal care. I have nothing but admiration for them. This can’t be an easy job.
I have been listening to him breathe for three days now, and every now and then my heart jumps into my mouth if he pauses.
Dad, I need you to give me a little notice so I can go and get mum. You can’t go without her by your side.
